Beatrice Shali-Ogli Bishop believes in responsiveness, open communication and inclusivity among residents and local officials. If elected to the Sidney NY Town Board, Mrs. Bishop pledges to work toward better communication via all available media, the Town’s website, email and person to person conversation. Mrs. Bishop wants to respond to the needs of all members of the community in regard to positive economic development (including local Main Streets, agriculture and agribusiness), the preservation of Sidney’s small town, peaceful atmosphere, and renewed commitment to the concerns of young people, the elderly, members of the Sufi community, the LGBQT population and people of color. She furthermore promises to create a comprehensive strategy to create sensible, long term goals for the Town.
A graduate of Vassar College, Mrs. Bishop owns a farm with her husband Charlie in the Town of Sidney. She has previously served as speechwriter and Press Director for two Borough Presidents in Staten Island, New York and has also worked for the Sidney United Methodist Church, the Four County Library System and the United States Census Bureau.
