Election 2025: The People Have Spoken
The close races and full candidate slates point to new Democratic energy in Delaware County’s small rural towns, traditionally dominated by the Republican party. The trend is borne out by results in other states. After the recent Democratic gains in the New Jersey and Virginia governors’ races, there’s a jolt of optimism about the party’s prospects, even in traditionally Republican rural areas.

Up Close and Personal: Middletown’s District 3
One story stood out in particular: a two-person Middletown team who canvassed their own neighborhood—Election District ED03. Their mission? Knock on the doors of every single registered Democrat before the November 2025 vote. That meant 120 doors—and they did it!

Communication is a Two-Way Street
We checked in with neighbors from nine DelCo towns about public meetings and here’s what we learned: democracy is alive and well on the very local level. The “privilege of the floor” is open to the public at town meetings in Bovina, Colchester, Franklin, Hancock, Meredith, Roxbury, Sidney, Stamford and Walton, and every one of our citizen-reporters thinks the practice is working well. So why not at the county government level?
