Hello Resisters!

February 1st at 1pm is our next planned Zoom.

This week, we’re excited to welcome our featured guest, 21-Year-Old Community Activist: Leila Staton.

Leila is a lifelong resident of rural northeast Iowa and a candidate for Iowa House District 54, a district made up of small towns and working-class communities.

Raised by a single mother, she’s a longtime organizer and advocate for public schools, affordable healthcare and housing, civil rights, and survivor justice. Leila has worked directly with state lawmakers at the Iowa Capitol, served on her local volunteer fire department, and in 2024 co-founded a nonpartisan advocacy organization focused on community organizing, mutual aid, and holding elected officials accountable.

Leila is running to bring real-world experience and unapologetic advocacy to the Iowa House.

You can learn more about Leila’s campaign from her Web site: Leila for Iowa.

We hope you’ll join us. We welcome everyone to bring their perspectives, questions, and ideas for a thoughtful and engaging conversation.
