Town Justice:

RINNA T. HOFFMAN

Rinna T. Hoffman is running for Franklin Town Justice on both the Democratic and Franklin for All lines. Her strong sense of civic duty, intellectual rigor, and deep commitment to community make her a fresh, exciting candidate.

Eight years ago, Rinna moved to Franklin from Philadelphia, drawn to the natural beauty and close-knit rural feeling. It reminded her of Coopersburg, the small town outside of Philadelphia where she grew up and developed a lifelong dedication to giving back.

A graduate of Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, Rinna earned a degree in English, which she used as a foundation to explore broader interests, including habitat sustainability, farming and biodiversity. Today, she applies her analytical skills professionally in the field of medical research, working remotely as a programmer for clinical trials. Her work supports the development of new cancer treatments—efforts that require absorbing and applying vast amounts of technical knowledge, a skill that will serve her well if elected as Town Justice.

The position of Town Justice plays a critical role in New York State’s judicial system, presiding over the Town Justice Court to oversee civil and criminal cases at the local level. While a law degree is not required (and the incumbent Town Justice doesn’t have one), all elected justices undergo a 30-hour legal training course before they begin serving and are required to complete continuing education courses each year of their term. Success in the role depends on a strong understanding of the law, sound judgment, and an unwavering commitment to fairness.

That sounds like Rinna, say the town committees endorsing her, noting her intelligence, diligence, and even temperament. Rinna practices a thoughtful approach to decision-making—listening carefully, weighing all perspectives, and striving for fairness in every situation.

Why else is Rinna Hoffman such a strong candidate for Town Justice? The reasons are many:

1. She is an Active Community Member:
Since moving to Franklin, Rinna has been a regular participant in Village and Town activities. She recently joined the Franklin Rotary Club, highly regarded by her for its deep commitment to local wellbeing and for the Rotary’s values: truth, fairness, goodwill, and community benefit.

2. She is a Supporter of Education at all ages:
Rinna owns the charming and much-loved “farm on Main Street,” located next to Franklin Central School. She welcomes visitors and their questions and has long been an advocate of hands-on learning about animal husbandry, seed propagation, and more. Her farm’s animals—chickens, ducks, emus, cows, and goats—are beloved by the Village.

3. She’s a genuine Civic Enthusiast:
Rinna’s friends know her for her quirky passion for jury duty—which she views unabashedly as a powerful opportunity to learn about the legal system and to give back through civic responsibility.

At just over 40 and in her first run for public office, Rinna represents a new generation of leadership in Franklin. Her warmth, openness, and steady, thoughtful approach naturally build bridges across generations. If elected, she will bring integrity, intelligence, and genuine care for her neighbors to the bench.

We believe this is just the beginning of her contributions to public service—and we look forward to seeing them unfold.

Endorsed by the Franklin Town Democratic Committee.
