DCDC Proposed Resolution for Delaware County Board of Supervisors

TITLE: Public Comment Policy for Monthly BOS Meetings

WHEREAS, a public comment period is an integral agenda item of virtually every Delaware County Town Council’s and Village Board’s monthly business meeting, wherein concerned town and/or village residents are given the opportunity to speak on issues that affect them,

WHEREAS, allowing concerned citizens to speak and participate in monthly meetings of our governing councils, boards, committees, and panels builds civic trust and engagement in the decisions made by said governing bodies,

WHEREAS, the allocation of time for public comment within monthly Town Council and Village Board meetings throughout the county has long been understood to be an effective and universally supported tradition,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors will authorize its Legislative Committee to draft a public comment policy drawing from the currently established public commentary practices of Delaware County’s Towns and Villages in their monthly meetings.
