It’s been an incredibly difficult night for us Democrats. Accepting the Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz loss despite running a flawless campaign of hope and unity—and the implications of that loss to our country—is profoundly difficult. We’re going to need some time for grieving.
In Delaware County we extend our sincere thanks to everyone who volunteered and donated to help our Democratic candidates and our cause up and down the ballot.
Locally, we extend our congratulations to Kirsten Gillibrand who won re-election to the Senate. Congratulations also to Josh Riley who appears to have won a difficult and tight race for Congress in NY19. We are hopeful this may contribute to Democrats taking back the House. Also congratulations to the voters of New York State for passing Prop 1. This was a tough, important battle and we should claim the victory.
Special thanks to our State office candidates Michele Frazier, Janet Tweed and Vicki Davis for stepping up to run. Your races inspired us. You worked hard with integrity and optimism. You served as a needed voice for us and our issues all around your district. We are so proud to have had you on the Democratic ballot line.
A reminder to everyone that it is tradition throughout Delaware County for us to take down lawn signs soon after the election is over. Please remove Democratic signs from public property and encourage those with Dem signs on their private property to take them down as well.
We ask you not to dispose of lawn signs if they are in good shape. All the frames and some of the signs can be reused in future campaigns (saving us time and money). Contact your local Democratic Committee for information about where to bring signs so we can store them.
