The DCDC is sorry to share the sad news that Ed Raeder passed unexpectedly on Saturday, January 22nd.

Lifelong resident of Grand Gorge, Edward Raeder was born February 28, 1955 to Clarence and Ellen Raeder on the family farm on Ferris Hill. He was the youngest of 7 children.

Ed Married Susan Wiedemann on August 7, 1976 at the Roxbury Methodist church. They made their home in Grand Gorge and raised two boys.

Ed worked for Agway/Stamford Farmers Co-op for 45 years retiring in 2020. He was very proud to serve as a Roxbury town council member for 29 years. Ed was also a member of the Grand Gorge Cemetery Association for many years. He was involved in the Catskill Mountain little league as a coach of the Cubs.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Susan Raeder. His sons Nicholas Raeder, Jesse (Farrah) Raeder and his Granddaughter (papas little girl) Zoey who he adored. He is also survived by his dogs Chloe and Emmy Lou. His sister Dorothy Raeder and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Heather Ellen Raeder, his parents and siblings Hazel, Walter, Ruth, George, and Jim.

Ed will be greatly missed by all.

Calling hours will be on January 26, 2024 from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Miller/Hynes Funeral Home, Main Street Roxbury NY with services to follow.
