Town Supervisor
Elected as Delhi Town Supervisor in 2023, Maya Boukai is seeking a second term, running on the Democratic and Delhi United party lines in the November 3rd general election. When she took office in January of 2024, Maya became the first woman elected to the position in 50 years.
Over the past two years, Maya Boukai has demonstrated a strong commitment to fiscal stewardship and strategic financial management for the Town of Delhi. Through proactive investment of municipal funds in NYCLASS and certificate of deposit programs, she helped generate more than $335,000 in interest earnings, creating significant revenue for taxpayers while maintaining sound reserve levels and long-term financial stability.
Maya has also focused on reducing borrowing costs and improving capital planning. By educating the Town Board on municipal financing options, she helped secure approval to bond a highway vehicle purchase, a decision that saves taxpayers more than $18,000 in interest costs over the life of the loan. In addition, she successfully leveraged the town boards $50,000 commitment to local recreation, into more than $875,000 in state grant funding, supporting major improvements to community recreation assets, including upgrades to the Delhi Town Pool, playground facilities, comprehensive planning efforts, and a new fitness court.
Beyond her financial accomplishments, Maya has built a reputation for challenging the status quo and advocating for greater transparency and accountability in local government. She is known for asking difficult questions, encouraging thoughtful discussion among fellow elected officials, and pushing for decisions grounded in sound data and public interest. Maya has also prioritized collaboration across municipal boundaries, working with neighboring governments and community partners to identify shared opportunities, leverage resources, and solve regional challenges.
