From RT Rybak, former mayor of Minneapolis, former vice chair of the DNC and current president of the Minneapolis Foundation:

“Wow, it’s really hard to know where to start.  We are living in an occupied state, certainly city.  On the other hand it’s remarkable and completely inspirational to see how people….everyday people….are doing remarkable things….food delivery, walking kids to school, picking up employees who are afraid to leave the house on their own….it goes on.

So the week ends in a Minnesota that increasingly has to be described as occupied by an illegal para military operation.

I wish that was an exaggeration but how else can you describe random, increasingly violent attacks on people in stores, schools and even their own homes (see below about the battering ram used to abduct a person without a warrant in this own home and ship him to Texas).  The attacks are coming from masked, armed roving bands of people who are—probably ICE—but, offering no identification, they could also be Boogaloo Boys or just thugs and criminals wanting a “good time.”

And through it all Minnesota stands battered but strong.  And getting stronger. They have messed with the wrong state!

Thousands and thousands of people are now mobilized through community based networks, Signal chats, faith communities, neighborhood groups, schools, child care centers and so much more. There are so many heroes who are putting themselves on the line—I get more inspired by every report of people who may never have spoken up before doing whatever they can to protect innocent people being brutalized.

Knowing part of the goal of this illegal occupation is to cause violence—so they can pretend there is an “insurrection”—Minnesotans are outsmarting them and not giving into chaos. That is so hard considering the wrong that is being done but the whole world is now watching Minnesota and we are showing people across the globe (including Greenland) that if you stick together you can take on and beat the bully.  We are David to their Goliath and our slingshot is a whistle.

Any person sitting on the sidelines right now and not speaking out is part of the problem. Every person can do something and every person needs to be visible, speak out, join these networks.  If you can’t think of anything else do two things:

1. Stand on a corner with a sign so no one can move in this community without seeing visible opposition to this illegal violence (you will inspire others to join in) and

2. Please please please support the terrorized businesses on our commercial streets….in Minneapolis especially Lake St., Broadway, Cenrtral, University….post others below because this is now all over the state. These businesses can only survive if you don’t let ICE ruin the livelihood of hardworking people giving back to our community.

I would say something like “Stay Strong Minnesota” but it’s clear to me Minnesota already knows that. Be kind to each other and know history will prove that at a critical moment, the bullies were beaten back by the brave people of The North.”
