Supervisor:

Stephanie Munro

In Meredith, Stephanie Munro is running for town supervisor as an independent on the Meredith Neighbors line and is endorsed by the Meredith Democratic Committee. Although this will be Munro’s first run for political office, she is uniquely qualified for the job of overseeing Meredith’s revenue, expense and tax budget. Today, she’s well known  as one of Delaware County’s best  physical therapists and business owners, serving 1200 to 1400 patients a year. Prior to this, Munro was regional manager of Bassett Healthcare Network’s Rehabilitation Services  where she managed a budget of several million dollars of expenses and revenue annually.

If she is elected to town supervisor, one  of her priorities is to provide Meredith residents readily accessible information on the workings of the town board and local government. “I would like to make information about the town more accessible, via the website, social media, and other means” says Munro. “There is a need for information about the way  local government works, and our current issues.”

One of the most pressing  issues concerns  the proposed solar farm which would cover an estimated 800-1100 acres in Meredith. This solar farm would be part of New York’s effort to reach renewable energy goals.

“People in town don’t really know much about it because there has not been effective and transparent communication,” states Munro.  “Many of us are concerned about the environmental impact this project would have on our area, particularly homeowners impacted by the proximity of the solar field.” Discussions are underway regarding regulations on noise, storm water management, wildlife studies and road issues, related to the proposed project. Munro believes the public should be privy to this information. “I believe the town council should be responsible for providing the town with information on the status of the project.”

Munro intends to work within Meredith’s budget and still seek community enhancement—seeking  funding through grants and other sources for features such as a walking trail or a park. “I would look forward to working with town council members, as well as branching out to other towns which have been successful in their efforts to enhance community spaces, to see what is possible.”

One aspect of life close to her heart is youth services and she appreciates the way Meredith’s board has provided youth services in the area. In addition to volunteer coaching of the soccer team and baseball, Munro directs  the local division of “Lightning Legs,” the US Track and Field (USATF).affiliated running program “Lighting Legs,” for youth.

“I feel deeply that my strong work ethic, honesty, and goal to help others suit me to this position.” Says Munro. The Meredith Democratic Committee agrees.
