Southern Tier officials react to U.S. military strikes in Iran

Congressman Josh Riley (D-NY19) raised concerns about the president taking efforts without the approval of Congress or the input of his constituents.

“Why has this decision been made, with no input from the American people, to invest hundreds of billions, a trillion dollars in a war?” Riley said. “When you have upstate New Yorkers who are struggling to put food on the table, struggling to keep the lights on and keep the heat on, struggling to pay the rent?”

Congressman Riley urges Congress to pass a War Powers resolution that would require the president to seek congressional approval before further actions. “This is a decision that requires input from the American people,” Riley said. “To date, we have not had that.”
